Concentration Area: Process Analysis and Shipbuilding Systems

This area is related to studies of naval architecture, hydrodynamics and structure, searching for architectural solutions of the superstructure and hulls of fluvial and maritime vessels, as well as the hydrodynamic behavior of fluvial systems, vessel maneuverability, hydrodynamic drag and propulsion systems.

Research Line:

Naval Technology

This area is related to studies of naval architecture, hydrodynamics and structure, searching for architectural solutions of the superstructure and hulls of fluvial and maritime vessels, as well as the hydrodynamic behavior of fluvial systems, vessel maneuverability, hydrodynamic drag and propulsion systems.

The research lines of the concentration area in process analysis and naval construction systems are:

          a) Project of vessels;

          b) Hydrodynamic systems;

          c) Vibrations and propulsive systems; and

          d) Vessel manufacturing process

Concentration Area: Waterway Transport

The Waterway Transport area seeks to develop methodologies and procedures for investment analysis and optimization of vessel projects, planning and control of works on waterways and ports, through organizational and regulatory models in the areas of maritime and fluvial transport, port systems and shipbuilding. Development of studies on river and maritime ports and the environmental impacts of projects and navigation systems with standardization, regularization and channeling works are also the focus of this area.

Research Line:

Waterway Planning and Infrastructure

This research line seeks solutions for water transport, aiming at optimizing processes and projects for the rationalization of transportation, regarding the development of the Amazon and Brazil, since the transportation corridors of the Amazon are the great logistics outlet for the country. Aspects related to the design of inland waterways, river and maritime ports and environmental impacts of navigation projects and systems. Normalization, regularization and canalization works also make up this line.

The research lines of the concentration area in waterway transportation are:

          a) Water and port transportation and infrastructure;

          b) Geomorphology of rivers and estuaries; and

          c) Transportation planning.
