The implementation of UFPA's Naval Engineering degree was a great achievement for the Amazon region, since it made possible the formation of professionals in the local scope to operate in this segment, since the region had only some naval designers and architects to supply the existing needs. Considering the great tendency of the region to consolidate the waterway transport as the main way to interconnect the various communities that exist along the rivers of the Amazon Basin, which contributes to the social and economic development of the region. In order to support the qualification of these professionals and others who work in related areas, at Masters level, PPGENAV arises in order to meet the need of the region for Graduate courses in the naval area and mainly in the area of ​​water transport for the training of qualified human resources for the development of teaching and research activities in higher education institutions, public and private, as well as other government entities and civil society. It is important to emphasize that the creation of PPGENAV does not only supply an existing demand in higher education institutions of the North and Northeast but is also of great relevance for institutions located in South America and Central America.
